Transient Student Certification
Do you plan to take classes at another university to transfer back to IU? You may need a transient letter. Transient letters are often requested by the university you will be attending, before you are approved for enrollment.
If you are in good academic standing, the letter will state as such, indicate that you are eligible to re-enroll at IU and include the following policy statement:
INDIANA UNIVERSITY DOES NOT PROHIBIT ANY STUDENT FROM ATTENDING CLASSES AT ANY OTHER INSTITUTION. UNDERGRADUATE COURSES RECEIVING GRADES OF 'C' OR ABOVE FROM AN ACCREDITED INSTITUTION WILL BE EVALUATED FOR POSSIBLE TRANSFER TO IU.
For questions concerning how a course would transfer to IU Bloomington, the Office of Admissions provides an online Credit Transfer Service.
To request your transient letter, download and complete the Enrollment/Degree Certification form. Mail and fax instructions are on the form. Be sure to sign the request.
Your letter will be mailed to the address provided on the request.
Please note that we do not offer a return fax service.
