Enrollment and Degree Certification for Third Parties
Effective February 2009, the National Student Clearinghouse is Indiana University Bloomington’s authorized agent for providing enrollment and degree verifications. Employers and background screening firms requesting this information should contact the National Student Clearinghouse at 703.742.4200, or visit their website at www.enrollmentverify.com (for enrollment certifications) or www.degreeverify.com (for degree certifications).
Loan Deferment Processing
Indiana University Bloomington has partnered with the National Student Clearinghouse to provide enrollment verification information for loan deferment to our student lenders. Information about what has been shared with your lender is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from the National Student Clearinghouse website.
Loan deferments processed via the National Student Clearinghouse beginning mid-February 2009. For details about what information has been provided to your lenders, visit their website at http://studentclearinghouse.org/.
The Office of the Registrar and the National Student Clearinghouse cannot process requests for student loan deferments until the first day of the term.
All loan deferment paperwork for Fall Term 2009 may be submitted to the Bloomington Office of the Registrar beginning August 31, 2009.

Enrollment Certification for Students
The Office of the Registrar issues an Enrollment Certification letter, bearing the Registrar signature, to verify academic record information to insurance companies or other student benefit program organizations. Academic record information available for certification may include prior and/or current enrollment, enrollment status, GPA, and final degree conferral.
Note: Enrollment Certifications will not be issued to students who have outstanding financial obligations, including past due accounts with the Bursar (812)855-2636, Student Loan Administration (812)855-4511, Dean of Students/Greek Housing (812)855-8187, or Student Ethics (812)855-4463. If you have a past due balance with any of these offices, there will be a "hold" on your record and we will not be able to issue your Enrollment Certification. Please contact these offices for clearance before issuing an Enrollment Certification request.
Ordering Enrollment Certifications
Students may request an Enrollment Certification in person at the Office of the Registrar, Franklin Hall 100, by fax, or by mail.
Effective Fall Semester 2004 the Bloomington Office of the Registrar will no longer send Enrollment Certifications via fax. Enrollment Certifications cannot be transmitted via e-mail. All Enrollment Certifications will be mailed to the address provided on the request. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
IN PERSON
Students may request an Enrollment Certification in person by presenting their photo ID to the IU Bloomington Office of the Registrar in Franklin Hall 100 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, Eastern Standard Time.
BY FAX OR BY MAIL
To request an Enrollment Certification by fax or by mail, download this request form, complete and sign it, and submit to our office. Verify that the request includes either a valid e-mail address or daytime telephone number, in case additional information is needed. Be sure to sign the request.
All certification documents will be mailed to the address provided on the request.

“Public information,” which includes terms enrolled, full/-half-time status, degrees earned, and address information may be provided without the student’s authorization. According to federal law and IU policy, we must obtain the student’s signature before we can release “private information” such as grades, GPA, good academic standing, and class schedule.
